Piper and Carson on “The Pastor as Scholar, and the Scholar as Pastor: Reflections on Life and Ministry.” For those of us that don’t live in the epicenter of evangelicalism, let’s hope these get recorded.
For what it’s worth, I’m glad to see the word “scholar” making its way into the title. All pastors should be theologians, and all theologians should be pastors, but not all pastors should be scholars. There are two distinct communities (at least for now); academic and ecclesial. Thanks be to God, there are a few who deserve all three titles, whose scholarly work is ultimetly pastoral.

But really I think that a minister who can be all three is no better than one that can do two of them. i do not want my pastor to do things that soe scholarly pastoral theologians do. Different callings, skills set, spiritual gifts, and jobs. But overall I think you are right.
